The Cellular Data Interface module is specifically designed for data applications. Connectivity is via the serial RS-232 port which provides either CSD on both GSM (9.6kbps) and CDMA (14.4kbps) or 1xRTT (153kbps) or GPRS (171.2kpbs) packet modes with much higher speeds.

Via the RS 232 port the module with also support PC Fax (e.g. WinFax) and other data applications (Internet, Email, VPN).
